My thoughts and progress about my works

Le Mars, The Ice Cream Capital of the World, is going to have over 30 giant 6ft tall ice cream cones representing different venues of Le Mars. There are several around town already. 

I would have never thought I would be involved in doing something this big and this public, but here one is the one I am working on.  It is a great opportunity to work on a community project.  If you have never considered doing a community project, I highly recommend you find one and jump in. Knowing others are also working on their own unique design for other companies, something to enhance the arts in the community and show off Le Mars is a fun way, makes me feel very connected to this wonderful community I live in.

Dan Landegent created the initial design using BoDeans baking products in the rural scene, and I am painting it with a bit of my own creativity added in as he so generously suggested.  Here are a few pics of what I've done so far. It starts out a very daunting white, and yes, it is in my living room.

   I then added green for the bottom and blue for the top, just to get something on the white and continued from there to add the elements, one at a time.   

And along comes an idea in the wee hours of the morning of a bi-plane skywriter...   I had no choice, I had to get up and put my idea on the cone.      It is going to take me a couple of weeks to get all the detail in.  I have some surprises in mind. More fun stuff comin' up! And, yes, I see the top wings of the bi-plane tipping down - I'll fix it!  It's not easy painting on a giant round ball! On the other hand, chocolate would melt in the sun!
